Using Our Strengths

We all have things we are good at or do well. As a team, it is important that we utilize each others strength. Tell us about one of your strengths and how it will be useful in this class. Make sure you come back at the end of the week and read everyones post. We will play a game with this information. There is no length requirement, just make sure you have a COMPLETE response.

  1. My strength is that I am a quick problem solver. In almost any situation if something comes up, not working right or goes wrong, I am able to come up with a fix. I can think quickly to make sure the problem is solved or situation is under control. For example, during the "fire drill" my first reaction was to tell the students where to go since most do not know where to go during nutrition. Once students were on the field I immediately assisted the V. Principal in deciding what to do when the bell rang. After students were dismiss to go to class or nutrition I went to the office to tell the office staff when to ring the bell.
In this situation I was able to assist the students who didn't know where to go, the VP who was new to our school and not familiar with the our schools process and I helped the front office who did not think about adjusting the bells.
This trait is useful in our class because we always have events going on. Most of the time with students. Nothing goes as planned when students are involved. As a leader one often has to be able to think quickly and needs to know what is going on.

  2. opps..accident delete my post>.<
My strength is that I am an organize person. In almost anything I have that takes up some space are always organized. For example, my binder, last year I was an AVID student which they have Binder checks every Friday, and I got perfect score on my organization. I don’t like keeping my stuff mess like some student does because it’s very hard to find something and it will look ugly. Sometimes important guest might go to your house for a visit and your room and stuff is everywhere and maybe the guest will be very upset with you. With this strength, I think I can help clean up with any activities when we are finished, or I can help organize on some of the things in leadership class. And that’s what I think!:]

  3. I think my strength is open-mindedness. I am always ready to hear other people’s ideas and concerns. I think my strength will be helpful in leadership because I can help share the student body’s thoughts for us to help. Without being open-minded, the school will not see how we our trying to make the year memorable and fun.

  4. I think a strength of mine is being understanding and considerate. I mean this by looking at other people's point of views and not only mine - I put everyone else's thoughts and opinions into consideration. I don't limit my ideas to satisfy only me. I also try my best to look at things from the students' perspective. This will be helpful in leadership because, like you always say, we need to think about what the school wants and not only what we want.

  5. I think my strength is being able to get along with a mass variety of people. I think that this is because I like being social and also I try to see beyond the physical features, so I can see people's good qualities. I don't judge people from others' opinions because I understand that there is no way that you can know somebody without truly meeting them. I try to put myself in their shoes and see how their life is from THEIR perspective. If you don't get along with anybody, how do you expect to get respect and have people get involved in school activities you advertise?

  6. In my opinion, my strength would be to be outgoing. I am not shy AT ALL, and I hardly ever get embarrassed. I love being in leadership because you get to represent the school, and I always enjoy to talk to random strangers:). I will do whatever it takes this year to make this the best year at Alvarado possible, even if it means getting in the jerking circle at lunch and try to jerk. (I don't know how to, anyways)but that is okay. People will surely crack up, but that is okay. Also, I like to go up to people at school who I see that are alone without any friends, and start talking to them. Later, I try to find them friends, or people they can hang out with.(True story, I've done it twice so far.)This strength will probably also come in handy for leadership because we are always meeting and talking to new teachers and students.

  7. One of my strengths is that I try my hardest to be nice to everyone, so it is easy for me to make friends. This will help me a lot in leadership class because, well, we're leaders, and we should be able to talk to people without them getting uncomfortable. I love making new friends, and I think that being nice really helps me make more friends. A lot of my friends stayed at my old school for middle school, so there weren't that many people I knew when I first came here, only people I've met in the past somehow. Now, I've made a lot of new friends. Anyways, I really do try my best to be nice to everyone I meet, and even people I don't know. If there were no nice people in leadership, then I don't know how people would ever join the Spirit Day activities or dances or anything at Alvarado.

  8. I think one of my most important strengths is that I work very hard. In fact, working hard has gotten me to where I am in the world today: At a great school like Alvarado, getting up in the morning everyday to go to Rowland High School, and playing piano every other Sunday for seniors at Olympia Convalescent Hospital. Working hard has made me see the world in deeper prospective. Working hard has let me meet alot of different people that are each special in their own way. I think my hard-working skill will help this class because I can work hard on whatever task I am required to do.

  9. I believe that my strength is that I am open-minded and totally out there. I am always so entergetic and ready for anything. I love when I get to combine my idea with someone's eles to make one awesome idea.If ever someone doesn't lik emy idea and their idea is a lot more creative and just plain better I will be willing to do that idea. What if no one is pumped with school spirt in the leadership class? Well in my mind, it means no fun idea and no way is the school year going to fun.

  10. I believe that my strength is that I am very considerate. What I mean by that is that I listen to everyone ideas and take it to consideration before I make my choice. I think that my strength can be used in this class because I think about other peoples ideas and not just mine so when I have to decide on something I think of what the class and school wants. That means that any idea is a good idea.
For example, in my committee, dance, I did not just say that we should stick to my idea and just mine and no one others because that would not show any leadership skills and we have to think of what the school likes and not what you like.

  11. My strength is that when I have have a goal in mind, I try my hardest to fulfill it. Somehow, I feel uneasy when I don't finish a task to my fullest potential when I obviously know I can. The cure? I simply give it my all and most of the time I get even better results than I'd hoped for. Of course trying my best classifies me as an overachiever because I know my best is a lot better than average if I really dedicate time to my projects and assignments. Trying my hardest requires me to be responsible, organized, and to always keep an open mind. When I fail to acheive what I was hoping for, I try to learn from my mistakes because if there's anything I've learned, it's that holding a grudge over something makes it harder to live up to your fullest potential later. After all, nobody's perfect. :)

  12. I think my strength is I am organized and peppy. I try my hardest to stay organized because it usually drives me crazy if I'm not. I like keeping organized because it usually keeps things from getting messing and is easier to find things(which is a good thing-I guess- becuase of leadership).
I am almost always entergetic, and hyper. If there is a time to get people pumping is usually my forte. I think they will be useful, especially becuase spirit days, dances etc.

  13. I think my strength is that i am responsible. I finish all my requirements before relaxing. I am willing to finish my part and maybe others when needed just to finish te job. Even if it takes me all night and day. I believe that my strength will be great in this class because i can get jobs done gaurenteed.

  14. My strength is that I am a dependable person. I'm responsible and I wouldn't say that I am going to do something and forget about it or change my plans without first getting the person's approval. If I had any plans and also had to do something for leadership or another class, I would finish my job first before I do anything else. Being dependable is useful for this class, because if you forget to do anything, it would affect your committee or even the whole class's grade. If it's something very important that you forgot to do, you might even affect the whole school. That is why you need to be dependable, so others can count on you. A leader can always be counted on to do what they're supposed to.

  15. My strength is that i am an outgoing person.
There is not one day in my life where i haven't had a smile on my face :D .I am very friendly & sociable,I will always try to keep you company when you are lonesome or if you are sad.I dont like seeing others with a frown on,so I will always try my hardest to cheer you up! The word QUIET does not equal to JOSEPHINE. I think that my strength as an outgoing person will be useful in this class because some people are shy & quiet,I can make them feel welcome & good about themselves.I believe that i am a good influence.I am an ASB member,I'm spirited!

  16. I think that my strength is perseverance.Perseverance is never giving up and trying as hard as you can. When you persevere you never stop trying in what you do no matter how hard it is. I think that this strength will be useful because if there is a problem during an it will be important to persevere and keep looking for a solution to the problem no matter how difficult to find the solution.

  17. One of my strength is that i'm a very outgoing person and i love to help people. My outgoingness may get out of hands sometimes and when i help people, i may help too much people at once and sort of loose myself. I am mostly always happy too. All my strengths also can be my weaknesses. I also think one of my strength is that i'm very energetic and love to make people feel energized too! I love making new friends and talking to people. Even if i do not know the person very well, i talk to them like I've known them forever. Like i said, all my strengths sometimes lead to my weaknesses.

  18. My strength is creativity. I can help design different things each commitee I or other commitees that need help. I have a great eye for color and what color matches best. But, sometimes when I am too into the project I am working on and someone announces somwthing important at that time, I might not hear it.
This automatically turns into a weakness, I can't hear what is going on around me. Technically, I'm saying I can't multitask while I am still helping in making something a commitee needs.

  19. I think my strength is keeping things in order, or on track. By retelling others due dates, and what they need to accomplish sets a goal for them. Which they would most likely try to complete as quick and as sufficient as they could, with determination. To add on, this quality may get things completed alot quicker, then if the person was not on track.
This strength of keeping things in order (on track), may help the class by speeding their (committee) accomplishments, on getting things done. It could possibly cause a chain reaction from committee, to committee. That is, if the committee is feeling considerate, bored, or helpful to other committees..

  20. My strength is that I persevere. I never give up even if something isn't going right. No matter how tough things get I never quit. This will be useful in class, because if we are doing an event and it's not going as plan I will persevere and finish what I started.

  21. My strength is that I am a perfectionist. (I really don't know what word could take that place.) I take my time to do everything and try to make it perfect. In every task that is given to me I will think over how I am going to do it and then i carefully work on it. I put effort in anything I do, but yet at the same time, I kno how to control my time. I think that's also one of my strengths, being able to manage time.

  22. I think my strength is that I am a hard worker. Anything I do it is my best. When I make a commitment I try my best to get it done. I think this will help me in leadership because we need to be leaders to others and show others what to do. If you don't work hard then the kids will not be happy and just leave or not try in an activity.

  23. I think my strength is that I am very creative. I can think of very creative ideas for any events or activities that we plan at school. I can make our advertisements, such as posters and flyers, look unique to grab students' attention. I can also make nice dance decorations when needed to when there is a dance.

  24. (THIS IS SALLY CHANDILIHUR on ashley's acc. because I can't post up my comments for some reason)
I think my strength is the ability to socialize with others. I am really good at meeting new people. I may seem shy at first, but once you gete to know me I am very out going. Meeting new friends is a hobby of mine. I can talk to almost anyone and socialize with them. If there are any new students be sure to call me and let me meet them.[:

  25. My strength is that I am very determined. When I have something to do I make sure I get it done with my best effort. For instance, when I have a project I work hard until it is done with the best I can do. Once I have something on my mind I can't let it go or give up. I am always doing something new. Either it is helping a friend or working on something no matter what I am always determined. When I have something to do I become very single-minded till' I figure it out or finish it. This will come in handy once we have for instance a project, dance, or just cleaning up I will do my best job.

  26. I think my strength is being organized, and whatever you tell me to do i will get it done in time. Whenever we have to make a group decision I always make sure that everybody has a say in what they truly think about it before we make the decision. I try to space my time out so I don't have to much to do all at once and so I won't be stressed out.

  27. I think one of my strength is to be able to coorporate with other people easily. I’m not that picky at choosing ideas and I’m able to talk about it with the group or committee. I think this is a very useful strength because being able to communitcate and talk with other people about our oppinions will make the event that we’re planning less complicated. We don't get shy about our ideas or about asking questions. If we have an idea or problem we can talk it out easier because we can coorporate with each other so this is my strength.

  28. I think my strength is to design stuff. I think this strength is useful in leadership because I can help decorate posters for upcoming events. Also, I can help set up for special events and I can decorate my fliers with a lot of creativity.

  29. I think that my one of strengths is responsibility. I think that this would be useful in class because if I had to be relied on to do a specific job, I can do it right and on time. I can be depended on to put up flyers or maybe make a poster too.

  30. I think that my strength in use is being a good helper to those that need it. It can be helpful to the class because whenever someone needs help onto doing something, I try my best to help them.

  31. I think my strength is being outgoing. This will help the leadership class because when people see me being outgoing in the school activities they'll want to know whats so exciting and they will get involved. But some times being to outgoing can make you seem weird. So i try to contain myself:D

  32. I think my strength is outgoing,I break out of shyness very quickly(especially on the first day of a new school). This helps the class because I try to help people as much as possible.

  33. My strength is being an outgoing person. It can be used by not being shy around people and how I can speak my mind instead of keeping it till the last minute. Being an outgoing person means to me that I should be a person who is unafaid to do things.
