One Minute to Win It

I just watched this a fun game show called "One Minute to Win It." It is a game show filled with fun activities that we could use for a spirit day activity or some other challenge. You have two tasks. In this post you are going to the link below and watch 3 different events and answer these three questions.
1. Name of the game
2. Would it work as a spirit day activity?
3. Can this game be used in another way?

LINK

Your second task it to watch the game show next Sunday night. It is on channel 4 at 7pm. You only need to watch 30 minutes of the show. Let me know what you think about the games and then give me 3 ideas about how we can play this at school.
This will be in a different post.

The first post is due by Friday at midnight.

The second post is due by Sunday at midnight.

  1. 1. BITE ME (game 1)
    2. We could have teams of 5 who each have to raise 1 bag and put them in the stage
    3. I don't think this game can be used in a different way.

    1. EGG ROLL (game 2)
    2. We could have pairs roll plastic easter eggs into the drawn circle using pizza boxes to fan the eggs into the circles.
    3. This could also be used as a partner or team building exercise

    1. JOHNNY APPLESTACK
    2. We could have pairs stack 5 apples on top of each other.
    3. I don't think this can be used in a different way.

  2. 1. Candy Elevator
    2. No, this activity couldn't be a spirit day activity.
    3. This activity should play by blind fold one person (just like the cheeseball throw) but using a string to hold on the candy like an elevator.

    1. Bottoms up
    2. Yes, this could be a spirit day activity.
    3. This game should be played in 7th against 8th graders, and each group should have at least 5 people.

    1. Face the Cookie
    2. Yes, this cool activity could be one of our spirit day activity.
    3. I think the cookies should be more than 3.

3.) We can make the contest even longer by making them do the same thing with 3 cookies instead of 1.

    1.) Movin' On Up.
2.) Yes, it can be a spirit day.
3.) We can just use less cups so it's easier, and only give them 30 seconds.

3.We can add more people into the game, and change the rules up a little bit.

    1.Go The Distance
2.Yes, but I'm not sure many people would participate.
3.We can use meter sticks or something else instead of the tape measure.

    1.Keep It Up
2.Yes, it would be fun, I think, for everyone.
3.We could change the rules so that more people can participate at the same time.

  10. 1)Defying Gravity
2)Yes it can be used as a spirit day activity
3)Instead of using balloons, we can give them something that won't float as long

    1)Elephant March
2)Yes it can be used in a spirit day activity
3)Instead of using pantyhose because most students won't want to wear pantyhose on their heads, we can use string and tie it around their necks still with the baseball attached to the end.

    1)Tweeze Me
2)Yes it can be used in a spirit day activity
3)To make things easier for us, we can just remove the tennis ball so it won't take so much time for us to balance a tennis ball on top.

  11. 1. JUNK IN THE TRUNK
    2. Definitely, it would be easy for everyone to see what is going on and it will be hilarious to watch.
3.We could use plenty of other substitutes in place of the ping pong balls and instead, the tissuebox could be place to the top of the player's head

    1. CONTAGIOUS
    2. Yes, the game is simple and easy but will be fun to watch.
3.I think the game is good as it is but we can make the rules more flexible so that its okay if the cans touch the body. Whoever can finish stacking their cans first is the winner.

    1. MOVING ON UP
    2. Yes, it'll be easy for everyone to see what is going on and the game is simple and easy to do.
    3. Instead of having a time limit, the winner can be the one who finishes first and we could also lessen the amount of cups used. We could also use partners in this game so that they can work together to stack the cups sot there will be more participants and the activity will be more interesting.

  12. Bulb Balance
-we can use this as a spirit day activity
-but we can substitute the light bulb for a plastic cup facing down or something.

    Face the Cookie
-we can use it as a spirit day activity
    - theres no need for any substituting. just need a head of a person and oreo cookies.

    Keep It Up
-we can use this for a spirit activity
    - theres really no need for any substitutions

  13. blind ball
-we can use this as a spirit activity
-instead of balls we could use balloons

    triple ping plop
-we can use this as a spirit activity
-instead of a fish bowl we could use a plastic container so we don't have to buy a fish bowl.

    loner
    - we can use this as a spirit activity
-we can time them one at a time to see who does it faster.

  14. suck it up
-we can use this as a spirit day activity
-instead of m&m's i think it would be easier to use marshmallows

-we can use this as a spirit day activity
-instead of a banana we can use something else like a stuffed animal instead

    on the nose
-we can use this as a spirit day activity
-i think they should partner up while moving the cotton balls because alone it would take to long

    ReplyDelete
  15. 1. Egg Roll
    2. Yes
    3. I think this idea would work but a slight change in it would be better for spirit day. First, i think we should put some eggs on a regular size table, (i think we should use like a fake egg). Then, have 2 people pair up- one person uses the pizza box to fan the eggs, the other person hold on to a bucket with their mouth and try to catch the egg. If the eggs fall to the ground, then it doesn't count, and the team with the most eggs will win. I was thinking probably 4 pairs are good, 8 people in total.

    1. Defying Gravity
    2. No. I think the kids would fail to balance it in less than 30 seconds.
    3. Instead of one person trying to keep the balloon up with their hands, we should have 2 people paired up. They'll link hands and try to bring the balloons to a finishing line, by bumping the balloon with their heads, using "teamwork" to try to balance the balloon or whatever way they choose to. This will be sort of a race.

    1. Knock It off
    2. yes.
    3. We should make it easier.

  16. STICK THE LANDING:

*Yes, I do think we can use this as a spirit day activity

*Instead of using water bottles, we can use masking tape and make it stand up vertically

    PITCH BLACK:

*Yes, I do think we can use this as a spirit day activity

    * Instead of it being in the dark, it would have to be during the day and with regular rings instead of glow-in-the dark ones

    NIMBLE THIMBLE:

*Yes, I do think we could use this game as a spirit day activity

*Using thimbles seems kind of hard, so instead, I was thinking we could use the cup thingy used to see how much liquid medicine such as Tylenol or Motrin to drink.

    * These all seem very fun! I can't wait until we try them (hopefully) at a future spirit day!!!!!!!  Yaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!! <3 : D

    b) 1. Face the Cookie
    2. Yes, this would be something funny to watch.
    3. Maybe we could use different type of cookies or more cookies to make it harder [?]

    c) 1. Whack Job
    2. Maybe [?] This might be too complicated or too messy for a spirit day activity.
    3. If we were to do this activity, we should probably use something other than a raw egg.

    1.moving on up
2.This would be pretty cool for a spirit day activity
3.Instead of 49 cups,we should use slightly less so people don't get bored watching(?)We can also make it interesting by letting the person have a partner

  20. 1. CADDY STACK
    2. This might be a good, cheap idea for a spirit day. However, this task might prove too difficult for the players.
    3. Instead of limiting the time, we can just award the team who gets all golf balls stacked and standing for three seconds, first.

    1. Bucket Head
    2. This would be fun to play as a spirit day activity.
    3. Instead of fixing the buckets to the players heads, we could just leave them on the ground. This way, it's much easier.

    ReplyDelete
  21. 1. Bucket Head
    2. It can work but we should give them a lot more time than one minute.
3.Instead of bucket we can have a big inflatable in the middle that all players are trying to get into. This way a lot more kids will get it in and the fasted wins.

    1.Candy Elevator
2.Yes it can work but we would have to make rounds and rules.
3.Instead of pencils we could put a piece of cardboard that is really thin.

    1.Dizzy Mummy
    2. Yes i think it will work.
3.We could put the toll a paper on stage while someone is holding it. We give them a piece to wrap around once and they go.

    ReplyDelete
  22. 1. Egg Roll
    2. Yes, it can work as a spirit day activity.
    3. Instead of using an egg, we can use a golf ball or tennis ball instead so the egg doesn't break and make a mess.

    1. Face The Cookie
    2. Yes, it can work as a spirit day activity.
    3. Instead of using 3 cookies, we can just use one. If the cookie falls on the ground, they will be out.

    1. Nose Dive
    2. Yes, it can work as a spirit day activity.
    3. I don't think there is any other way to do this activity.

    ReplyDelete
  23. 1. Paper Dragon
    2. This can be used as a spirit activity.
    3. We could use this activity at a dance then throw the streamers at the audience.

    1. Breakfast Scramble
    2. This could be used as a spirit day activity.
3.We could use real puzzles or cut the cereal boxes differently.

    1.Ping Tac Toe
    2. Yes, this would be a good spirit day activity
    3. Instead of having to bounce the ball, students could just throw the ball so it isn't too difficult.

    ReplyDelete
  24. 1.Face the Cookie
2.Yes, I believe that this could be used for a spirit day activity.
3.I don't believe that the game could be any different.

    1.Hanky Panky
2.It could be used for a spirit day activity but i think it would be wasteful Nd notvery 'Eco-friendly'.
3.The amount of tissues that are needed to be pulled out could decrease or the use of both hands instead of one.

    1.Knock it Off
2.Yes, I believe that this could be used as spirit day activity.
3.Instead of the ball of yarn it could be a semi-heavy abject connected to a piece of sting or instead of the cans it could something heavier like woodean blocks or something.

2.) Yes, it could work as a spirit day activity.
    3.) I don't think there's any other way

    3. I don't think there's another way.

    1. Junk in the Trunk
    2. I think this game would be a really good spirit activity event.
    3. I don't there's another way to make this activity more amusing.

    1.Loner

    1.Don't Blow the Joker
2.Yes,I think it'd be a good activity because you don't need many supplies and it is easy to set up.
3.No, it's simple enough as it is.

    1.Spin Doctor
2.Yes, I think it'd be a good activity because it only requires dimes
3.Yes, instead of using only dimes, you can use any coin.

    ReplyDelete
  28. 1. Drop, Sink, and Clink
    2. This activity would be a very challenging, yet awesome spirit event
    3. I think if we use things less expensive like using plastic bowls instead of the glass bowls.

    1. Defying Gravity
    2. I think it wouldn't be possible if we did this activity because the wind might blow the balloons away
    3. There's no other way to do it

    1. Candy Elevator
    2. It couldn't work as a spirit day because this task is too challenging
    3. Instead of pencils, we could is something like popsicle sticks or something more wider.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I was not aware we had an assignment because of my absences.

    1. The name of the game is candy elevator
    2. It can be used as a spirit day activity because it is a short-period game, and you can have a lot of contestants.
    3. You can substitute different types of candy or a different platform for a more smooth surface.

    1. The name of the game is egg roll .
    2. IT can be used as a spirit day activity because it is cheap and easy to play.
    3. We could use a small ball instead of an egg roll.

    1. The name of the game is elephant march.
    2. I think it would make a great spirit day activity because it seems fun and challenging.
    3. Instead of pantyhoses we could use something else to go around their neck and attach the ball to that.

  30. Ummm..... sorry but I was wondering if the demonstration flow map is requiring bullet points describing because I am not quite sure. I just put the actual steps such as ingredients, so I am not sure bullet points will make any sense..... but just in case.... please help!!! :)

  31. I think that the games are fun to watch and gives you a felling of suspense toknow if the person completed or failed the task.
    1) we could always do a relay race of the different activities
2)we can have a girl vs boy competion of who could do the most of a an avtivity in a certain amount of time
30 wecould do a limit of time for each team who can do the most activites in 15 minutes

    ReplyDelete
  32. I thought the events were funny and I think they would make good spirit day activities. I only saw the first 30 minutes of the show, so the activities I watched were This Blows, Drop, Sink, and Clink, Bottoms Up, Johnny Applestack, Candy Elevator, Mega Bubble, and Don't Blow The Joker.
    1) I think that we can do Bottoms Up because I think people will participate in that. We can lower the amount of cans, though, and add more people to the games. The first person, or group, to complete the task in a certain amount of time will win.
    2) I think we can do Mega Bubble, but maybe with balloons that have regular air (not helium), to make it easier to blow through a hula hoop, which will be held by someone.
    3) I also think that we can combine some of the activities and then make groups of people. Then, they can compete against the other teams. The winners are the ones who complete the most amount of activities accurately.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I think that the events were really creative, but simple at the same time. It felt relaxing and entertaining watching the events and it also must be really fun participating in them as well.

    1) We could have candy elevator during our spirit day activities, because I think that when people would want to participate in it since it involves candy in the name.

2)Drop, Clink, and Sink would also be a really fun activity to play. People would participate in that, because it doesn't take any skill. Each student will have five pennies to drop into a bowl and if nobody makes it, then they will get five more shots.

3)Mega Bubble is really creative and we could get two people to hold a hula hoop and the students will get one minute to get the bubble inside the hoop.

    ReplyDelete
  34. i think that the games require a lot of practice and strategies.
my first idea of doing these activities is by extending the time limit. Another ideal would be making the games a little more simpler. my last suggestion would be to use simpler substitutions and also simpler activitys that can draw suspension for others and encourage others to participate and also watch.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I think the events were very funny and made the people look really stupid. If we were to make them into spirit day activities, a lot of people would participate.
    1) I think bottoms up is a good activity. It's easy, it humiliates people, and it'll cost us almost nothing. All we need to get is string and empty cans.
    2) I think drop, sink, and clink would also make a good spirit day activity. Maybe instead of having thiem dropped in a bowl of water, they can be thrown in from a distance.
    3) I also think mega bubble wouldn't make a bad spirit day activity either. The spirit day workers could blow the bubble for the players and they can all try to get it through one ring that all the players have to get to first. If the bubble pops, then they have to go back and get another bubble.

    ReplyDelete
  36. The show was really funny and creative.

    1) I think the candy elevator would be popular for a spirit day because it involves candy and it is challenging.

2)Mega Bubble seems like a good game to play, and we could hold the hula hoop while the participants try blowing the bubble so it goes inside the hoop. Instead of a bubble, maybe we could use balloons with no helium.

3)Maybe we could do a melee of events with teams. It would be funny to see how they do. We would determine the winners by points and whoever has the most points in the end wins.

  38. I think the events are simple and creative in their own way. I personally thought it would be a lame game, but when that contestant was playing that bubble game, I was jumping off my seat, anxious to watch her win.

    1) I think that even though these games are all singled player, if we change the rules around and add more complicated things to do. We would be able to have more competitors.
    2) We could team people up by 7th vs. 8th graders or girls vs. boys.
    3) We could add more time instead of only 1 minute.

  40. The show was very suspenseful and hilarious. I think I just found my new favorite show!
    1. Speed eraser: This game seems very hard. We could lower the amount of pencils and have about 6 players.
    2. Bucket head: I don’t think we could play this because there is no wall we could use.
    3. This blows: We could have about 5 people play and only have them knock down 5-10 cups.
    4. Face the cookie: I think lots of kids would want to play and could play this game.
    5. Bite me: This game doesn’t seem that hard, epecially since we yound people can bend lower than adults.
    6. Loner: We could have about 6 people play this game. This seems like a game people would like.

  41. After watching the first thirty minutes of the show, it was really exciting for me to watch. I think that the games are challenging and fun and we could have a number of people to go at a time.

    1. I Think that cookie face was would be a really good challenge because it would be simple yet funny to watch the facial expressions they make. Plus the students would like to eat the cookies.

    2. We could also expand the time limit or make a series of these game, and the number of people that play.

    3. And we should probably not give them any lives so that the event would run better.

I think that these games would make great spirit day activities

    ReplyDelete
  42. I though the events were more interesting when you watched the people tyr it out. I was really interested in face the cookie.

    1) I think the one where you throw the ball against the wall and catch it on yer head could work, but instead we could have partners and let the partner throw the ball into the other partner's head.

    2) Face the Cookie would work really well, we can have 8 people sti on a chair and try to get the cookie in their mouth.

    3) The picking up the brown bags would work, we can have an amount of people join. This would have to be an individual game.

    * sorry, i forgot the name's of the games.

  44. I think watching the games and the people playing them was pretty funy and interesting.

1)We can change the games so that you could add more players.

2)Make the rules so that the first team to finish wins instead of the 1 minute time limit.

3)Team up the 7th grader boys, 7th grader girls, 8th grader boys, and 8th grader girls into teams.

  45. (I watched an episode on NBC Video Rewind)
The contestants looked really happy and excited, but kinda nervous at the same time. It got me wanting to try these games myself.

    1) Don't Blow the joker: we can have this event at a dance and maybe it will attract students to come to the dance.

2)Candy Elevator: we can use rubberhands to tie the pencils together, and use jellybeans instead of m&m's or skittles to make it more difficult.

    3) Movin on up can be used as an activity at a dance, or spirit event. We can use it as a contest, and not just a team-work activity.

  46. The show was really entertaining and would work well as a spirit activity. When the first contestant lost, it was really sad, I think the contestant is very risky to to continue the game even when he has only one life left! The second contestant still have 50,000 either way, so it's not that bad as going home with nothing.

1.We should do that game when the guy bounced the ball against the wall. Instead we can make a person throw a plastic/tennis ball and another perosn catches it. That would require teamwork and would be more entertaining than one person playing.

    2. The blindfolded one(i forgot what it called) we can make slight changes to that by making teams of 2-3 people. And one person get to be the blindfold one, and their teammates tell them which direction to go to reach the goal.

    3. The marbles and the pencil one would work well too. We should make it like a bowling game where the students can knock down all bowling pins like the contestant did in the show.

  47. I think the games are very fun and exciting. They are especially good for school activities because they only take a minute to play each game. We can have more rounds of the game because you can play them in such a short amount of time. They are also very easy to set up.

1- I think Face The Cookie is a good game to play at school. The winner can be the person who gets the 2 cookies into their mouth the fastest.

    2. Movin' On Up is a very exciting game we can play at school too. Instead of using 50 cups, we can use 25 cups. That way, we don't have to buy as many.

    3. Instead of having only one game per spirit day, we can have 3 of the games and combine them together to make one big relay race. That way the activity will be longer and more students can participate.

  48. I think the games are thrilling and very entertaining. They keep the viewers hooked, and keep them wanting more. Also, we could use them at Alvarado because the activities do not take long to complete.

    1. Face The Cookie is a good game to play because students would want to participate (who doesn't love cookies?), set-up & clean-up would be easy, and it wouldn't be very costly.

    2. Instead of the one minute time limit, we should either:
    - make it so that the first team who finishes, wins
    - extend the time constraints so the players and audience get to have more time to have fun

    3. To shake it up a bit, we can tie the prizes to the games. For example, if Face The Cookie is played, each winner could receive a little baggie of cookies as their prize. If Mega Bubble is played, each winner could receive little bubble wands/solution.

  49. i thought the show was really funny and entertaining :D the activities that were played could be done at school in many ways.

    1) we can use them not just in spirit days, but also in dances and such.

    2) they could be played in spirit days because it is really fun and it will grab the attention of any participants.

    3) when kids participate in fundraisers, we can give the a ticket and it will allow the to participate in these games for an hour or 2. It doesnt just have to be for fundraising, it could be for other events too.

  50. I thought the show was very fun.

1.we can use these ideas at dances to make more people come.

2.At the end of the year we can have games just like these who participated in the fundraiser.

    3. These can also be used in spirit days to make more people participate.

  51. I thought the show was entertaining and amusing

    1. we could take these ideas and use them as a spirit day activity and use each game as a stage in a big relay race.

    2. Plus, we could use them in dances. This way people will be more excited to come and increase the number of tickets.

    3. Also we could use them for activities for fundraisers or just a fun activity at the end of the year or something

2.And we can have the games, not only one but many and have a relay of 7th against 8th graders.

  53. Oops, I did watch the show but I completely forgot to comment yesterday.
    1. I thought the show was really fun and interesting to watch.

    1. We could have bear teams choose out representatives and have the representatives compete against each other for a prize such as a pizza party. This would promote more bear team spirit.

2.We could have teachers compete against each other at a fundraising event and we could have students pay to watch.

    3. Or this could be done for the talent show as a parody for a minute to win it and we could bring up members from the audience to participate.

The show was very funny and entertaining from the beginning. The entire show was great to watch. LOVED level three with the pencils.

    1. We could have a team of 3 for each bear team and the number of events completed by all 3 people will determine the number of bear team points won.

2.We could have 1 person from each homeroom to compete with each other.

3.We could have a few people from each P.E. teacher period and a person who completes 5 or more tasks will get their homeroom off a running day.

  57. The game show is very suspenseful and anxious. The show was so fun to watch and my brother and I had a great time watching it. It was also amusing during the blueprints. My favorite activity was when she had to spin around and get the balls blindfolded! But I felt sorry for the people who lost.

1.We can use these activities in a spirit day and make certain teams such as people's birthdays or what is their favorite color. Then they'll compete on he spirit days

    2. We can also involve people in categories such as their electives. Like Band and Leadership, they can compete. This is similar to the chinese dancing, but we're not going to do that. Also, this will connect the school by what they picked and not what they are chosen to.

    3. Another way we can play these games in the school is to play them at the Barbeque or some other event and rally the students to play the games. This can also make the events more exciting.

  58. 1. We could do speed eraser but to make it easier we should use bouncy balls and use bigger cups or maybe even buckets.

    2. This blows would be a funny event to watch. To make the game harder and funnier we could use whoopie cushions.

3.I think blind ball would also be a funny game to watch. We could have students walking around with a ball to make it even more challenging

  59. I think the show was okay to watch. Some of the games will work really good.

1)We can use one of these games as spirit day activities.

2)We can put a lot of the games together to make a relay race.

3)We can play some of the games at the end of the year barbecue.
