Cheating and Plagiarism

Cheating and plagiarism are a huge issue at Alvarado, especially in the honors classes. Define both terms in your own words and what is means to you as a student and a leader.

  1. Cheating is unrightfully getting answers from someone else, with or without permission. A few examples of cheating include somebody peeking at their neighbor's answers during a test, or taking someone's homework to copy it. Cheating, to me, is very low - I would rather rightfully get a bad grade then wrongfully get a good one.

Plagiarism is the unauthorized taking of something word-for-word. It is a form of copying. A very common example of plagiarism is that over the internet - students google things and copy/paste them into their essays and such, without citing the information source. This is like taking credit for other people's hard work, which is very wrong.

  2. Cheating is when you obtain information that was not made from you. You get the information from a person with our without permission. I think cheating is just unexceptable, even if your not a leader. The word cheating just nautrally comes out negative. Most people are born with the knowledge that cheating is wrong, and so if you as a leader cheated people owould most likely look down at you.

Plagiarism is when you take information that is not yours and you copy it down word for word, and take the credit for yourself. Again, I believe that neither anyone should be doing this. To me, if I knew a leader who has performed plagiarism before, I wouldn't want to look up to them. This tells me the leader is lazy, they just want to get the credit but do no work, and this also tells me they have a past of chesting, because plagiarism is cheating.

  3. Cheating is when you take someone's answers and work and call it your own or copying work that isn't yours.

Plagiarism is simular to cheating although plagiarism is when you copy some else's work without giving the person credit and calling the stollen work your own.

As a student and a leader, you should never result to cheating or plagiarism. When you do these terrible things you say "I'm too lazy to do the work myself"

  4. I think cheating is when you take some one's work and copy it yourself. Cheating also can be when you take some one's work or answers and call it yours and turn it in.

Plagiarism is almost the same thing as cheating but with plagiarism you steal some one's work and just put your name on the paper and turn the paper in. You give no credit to the person who did all the work and all the credit to you.

As a leader and a student I think that their is no reason to do these kinds of things. I think the people that do cheating and plagiarism are lazy and didn't do their homework or the student has too much pressure and results in cheating or plagiarism.

  5. Cheating is when you copy off someone else's work and call it yours. You profit from the action and the other person doesn't.

Plagiarism is taking someone else's work and presenting it as your own. I think it is the same thing as cheating except that most of the time the person doesn't know that you copied their work.

As s leader and student I think doing these things shows that you are lazy and dishonest. I've never cheated and I don't think I ever will because whenever I do something bad, the guilt eats me up alive.

  6. Cheating means to copy somebody else's work or answers and to take credit for it saying that it is your work.

Plagiarism means to steal somebody's work from a source such as a book or the internet or even somebody's else essay without giving the person any credit for it.

As a leader and student, I think that cheating and plagiarism tells others that you are a lazy person and that you don't respect other people enough to see how much effort they had to put in just to let others take credit for what they have done. Cheating shows that you don't care about your grade enough to spend part of your time for it.

  7. Cheating is to copy off someone for anything that they worked for or taking someone's credit or effort.
Plagiarism is to take someone's eles's work ,thought,or,words and say its their own without letting the other person take credit for it.
ASa leader and student, I think that it isn't fair for anyone to be cheating or plagiarising anybody. Besides the fact that you will get in trouble for either, but the fact that you are taking credit for someone's eles work that they worked hard on.

  8. Cheating means copy other people's work or answer and to take credit for yourself.

Plagiarism means to take someone's work from a book or internet without giving the person any credit.

As a leader and a student, I think cheating and plagiarism meant that you are a lazy, dishonest and don't show you put your own effort in with taking oters credit. It shows that you are not doing your own best.

  9. Cheating means to copy/use someone else's work and call it your own and take credit for it.

Plagiarism is when someone takes someone else's work or writing or whatnot and takes credit for it.

As a leader and a student, I think that both cheating and plagiarism would take a very big part in describing someone who does that. No one should cheat or plagiarize, in my opinion. Anyone who cheats and plagiarizes is not truthful and is lazy.

  10. Cheating actually has a similar meaning to lying, or being untruthful. Cheating is copying someone elses work and getting credit for it.
Plagiarism is when a person uses someone elses words from a passage and getting credit for it. It's when you write your name saying that YOU wrote it, when you actually STOLE it from someone else.
As a student and a leader, I find them both unacceptable. Students who cheat,DO deserve to suffer the consequences. Cheating and plagiarising are the two things that a leader AND a student shouldn't be doing. It's not setting a good example for those who see you as a role model.

  11. Cheating is copying someones work with or without their permission. Plagiarism is stealing someone's work exactly without citing your information, such as quoting a famous line without actually giving the writer the credit.

Cheating and plagiarism is wrong for a leader and for ant person. When you cheat or plagiarize on an assignment there's no point in having that assignment because you don't learn anything. Cheating and plagiarizing is also wrong because the person who you do cheat off of or plagiarize off of is also cheating because they're the one who gives you their work. Cheating and plagiarizing also lead to consequences. these include detention and suspension. As a student this affects you because you disappoint yourself and other people such as your family. As a leader this is horrible because cheating or plagiarizing isn't a leadership trait at all and if any leader does do that then they're obviously not a leader at all

  12. Cheating and plagiarism is copying of the work of others so you dont have to do the work yourself. Cheating is like taking someone elses credit without doing any work. Plagiarism is like steal someone elses work and not giving them credit of you "borrowing" it.

As a leader and a student, i think that cheating is un-needed and people who do cheat are people thatdont like putting in the effort on doing something and likes taking other peoples credit for their own good. Leaders who cheat should be looked up to because it might influence others the wrong way and they would end up cheating.

  13. Cheating in my definition, it taking copying someones work. It's a bad to get answers and not really getting a grade you really deserve. Cheating is like taking a test in a dishonest way.

Plagiarism is taking someone else's words and making them into yours or other words copy and pasting. When you plagiarize, you are taking credit for things someone else wrote.

A leader should never cheat or plagiarize because those are not qualities of a leader. When you are a leader and you cheat people will think it is alright to cheat because we are THEIR role models. When you cheat and plagiarize and get caught, that can lead you to suspension, detention, and it can end up on your permanent record. When you cheat, it obviously becomes a habit. I can't say that if you cheat then you are not a leader because everyone has at least cheated once even if it was a tiny thing. So is anyone really a leader?

  14. I define cheating as copying off the work of another person for your own credit and showing no effort with your work. As for plagiarism, i define it as taking another persons work and not giving the the person the credit they rightfully deserved.

As a student and a leader, I think that none of these actions needed to be done because all it shows for yourself is your lazyness and lack of effort to your work.

    ReplyDelete
  15. In my own words, cheating is a way of showing that you are lazy and incapable of doing your own work by taking credit for something ou havn't done. People who cheat think that they would have gotten the answer anyway if they have done the work on their own so why not simply get a shortcut? The answer is so simple... CHEATING IS WRONG!!!

Another issue similar to cheating is plagiarising. In my own words, plagiarising is the act of stealing work off people you don't even know and taking credit for it yourself. Plagiarising is even worse than cheating because you are stealing paragraphs, thoughts, and way of wording from people who wanted to share what they wrote with everyone. What's even worse is that some plagiarising is done from copyrighted published works which means that the author is telling you directly that they don't want anyone stealing what she/he has written.

Overall, I'm angered at people who cheat and plagiarize because the peole who aren't caught get as much credit as the rest of us who work hard to earn our grades. As a leader, and a student, I think there is no excuse for this type of behavior because everyone, even little kids, know that cheating is wrong. Also, there isn't any point for you to be going to school if you're not doing any work. If a leader was to cheat or plagerize, i would look down on them and want to protest for another leader. Just remember don't cheat... it's wrong.

  16. Cheating is when you copy off somebody's homework or test. Cheating can also counted as when somebody turns in something that they did not do at all but still get credit for it.

Plagiarism is when you copy something word by word from the internet or somebody's work. It is taking somebody's work that they did and just copying it so that you can get credit for it.

As a student and a leader, cheating a plagiarism is always absolutely not acceptable. When you cheat, you will always be looked at differently because people will think of you as not trustworthy and not responsible anymore. Cheating or plagiarism leads to high consequences at our school. When you cheat or plagiarise, you also feel guilty when you do it because you are taking credit for something that you did not do. It is better to get a bad grade for something that you did yourself, rather than getting a good grade for something that you did not do at all.

  18. Cheating is when a student copies another student for a good grade or if they didn't do their homework.

Plagiarism is when you copy the internet or a student's exact words and not giving them the credit because you just want a good grade.

As a student and leader , cheating and plagiarism is totally wrong. When you cheat or plagiarize, it means that you are lazy.
Cheating and plagiarism can lead to a lot of consequences, especially in middle school, high school, and college.

  19. Cheating is a act in which you copy or transcript an answer of someone's homework, test, or classwork. Cheating is also when you get work made even when you did not even do it. Cheating is basically stealing another's work that you did not do.

Plagiarism is the act in which you imitate someone's idea or work from another person. This act is also when you copy the work that they have posted for a reasons and you take it away and steal it.

As a student and a leader, cheating and plagiarism is a enormous act that is not to be tolerated because it means that you don't like to do work, are lazy, untrustworthy, and irresponsible. When cheating or plagiarizing, you don't learn anything thing from it and you have a sense of guilt in you which fells horrible. When you cheat or plagiarize in college and you're caught, the college will expel you because people take this bey seriously. The same thing happens in your career because a boss would not hire a trustful person. plagiarizing is actually illegal and is tolerated by the government. Therefore, cheating and plagiarizing are horrible bad doings that affect your life negatively.

  20. I believe that cheating is when someone takes someones work on a test or something. I believe that it is dishonest and horrible that people are too lazy these days to do work themselves and have to copy off someone else. I also think it is a lose-lose situation because you end up getting in trouble and you most likely won't gain any knowledge.

I believe that plagiarism is when you have to do an essay or project, etc. and you copy exact words from someones work. Plagiarism is when you copy/paste off of the internet, because you don't want to do your own work so you take someones hard, well earned work. I think that plagiarism is wrong and that you should earn your grades respectfully and not dishonestly.

  21. To me cheating is when you copy someone else's work on anything homework or test. When people cheat they aren't doing anybody any good because when you give the person a opportunity to copy off you it is unfair to you because you did all the work and they person copying off you gets the credit for it. When you are the person copying off the person then your are also making it unfair for yourself because instead of taking that opportunity to learn and gain knowledge you are making it easier on yourself now but later on when your going to need that knowledge you wont have it because you decided to cheat.

I think plagiarism is dishonest it is almost the same as cheating, actually it is a way of cheating. You copy in exact words from what someone else has done and you take credit for it and make it yours when it isn't. Using the information someone else has researched, worked hard on, and did. I really think that we should be earning our grades based on what we do and come up with and not what someone else has done trying to make it ours.

  22. For me cheating means you copy someone's homework or a test. You might think its the easy way out, but your not helping anyone. Your not only hurting the person your cheating from but your also cheating yourself. Look at it this way, in the long run, when you actually need the knowledge you wont have it. It can even cost you a job!

Now plagiarism is also a type of cheating. Its when you get information from the internet, books, ect. If you dont cite your where you get your info., then thats plagiarism. Just like cheating, your taking credit on something that you did not come up with. Did you know that in college if they catch you, you could be kicked out! But you see all you have to do is look at it in a different perspective and rewrite it. THATS IT!

If someone catchs a leader doing something like this, do you think that they'll remain a leader? Will anyone see him as a leader anymore? OF course not! So what I think is to never cheat or plagiarize anything from anyone. It can get you in deep troble!

  23. sorry i havent been doing the blog. it wouldnt work , so i always had to have a friend go in my acc & type it in for me. but i made a new one and it works now. xD

anyways , cheating is to copy off of someone else's work & then take credit for it. it can also be when you do something unfairly & then you win as in like a game or something.

plagiarism is when you take ideas and such from other people and call it your own. you copy it off word from word.

i think cheating&plagiarism is basically the same thing. as a student and leader i think its wrong. the more you do it , the lazier you get. & nobody can trust you. you also learn nothing from doing it. im surprised that its especially the honors. o:

  24. Cheating is usually when a student gets an answer that isn't theirs. Most students usually cheat on homework because it is probably the easiest thing to copy but copying is copying. When you copy and a teacher catches you, the teacher usually gives you a 0% and usually a referal to you and the person you copied off of. However if a leader is caught cheating, then most of his/her followers will not look up to them because they are a cheater.

Plagiarism is when you copy and paste or take idea or quotes without giving the person credit. Even by changing a few words in here and there is still plagairism. Teachers will again most likely give you a 0%, but maybe not a referal. When a leader is caught plagairizing for example, a speech, then his/her followers will most likely turn down on him/her and will lose many supporters.

  25. This is an act that obviously shows the person is not honest. Cheating can come in many forms – copying work, playing unfair, not being equal, deceiving, hacking, etc. It can define you with many negative labels such as a liar, fraud, swindle, and lazy. Cheating ends with a negative effect to both parties in a game, or actual work. Example: Tripping a girl in a race to be first place injuring her, and losing your first place prize for playing unfair.

Plagiarism is another word for forgery. The act is completely illegal – although several among our race do it anyway without a care in the world. It is copying another’s work, thoughts, or language - either copyrighted or not; or seemingly similar in various ways without giving reference to the copied information.

As a student, cheating means playing unfairly and plagiarism is to copy another’s work word by word- or even rephrasing one to five words as my own work. As a leader, cheating means to unfairly judge, create a foul play to win, being fraud, and/or deceiving others. Plagiarism means to forge someone’s production by brains, art, signature, words, writing, answers, etc. There is no reason for a leader or student to cheat or plagiarize- its either do the work or you don’t. Either you want to or you not, make your choice! But never EVER copy another’s work; you will suffer many unnecessary consequences.

  26. Cheating is copying someone's paper and taking credit for their answers. Some examples of this are copying someone's answers during a test, copying someone's homework if you didn't do it....I hope you get the point. If you grow up and become let's say a doctor, and you lived your life cheating through school, you might hurt somebody very badly because you don't have any idea on what you are doing. Cheating isn't just dangerous to you, but to all people around you.

Plagiarizing means that you copy somebody's work and take credit for it. This is one form of cheating, and if this is how you get on with your projects and life, you must be pretty miserable.

Both are wrong, and deep down inside you, you know it. I know you do. SO DON'T YOU DARE TRY ANY OF THESE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!THEY WILL GET YOU NOWHERE IN LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!If you have done this before, you probably sooner or later regretted it, but it was too late.

IN CONCLUSION: TO BE A GOOD LEADER......DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME,.......SCHOOL......OR IN ANY POINT OF LIFE.
    * YOU WILL BE BETTER OF TAKING THAT ZERO :)*

  27. Cheating is an easier way for some people to get things done:
a student-for ever chance you take at cheating, you know deep inside your conscience(i think I spelled that wrong)you feel guilty and you know there will be a consequence sooner or later.
a leader-you don't take the easy way out,to be a good leader, plan it through before hand.

Plagiarism is somewhat like copying(that's why they started COPYRIGHT):
a student-plagiarism can get me expelled or a refferal.
a leader- true leaders don't take others work, they do it themselves or don't do it at all.

  28. Cheating is when you commit fraud. It is when you copy someone else's ideas or thoughts. For example, copying someone's test answers. Cheating is wrong to do and a leader should not cheat because if a leader cheats, that means he/she is setting a bad example for everyone else.

Plagiarism is also sort of like cheating. It is when you copy someone's work word-for-word and you take credit for it. It is wrong for a leader to plagiarize something because they are taking credit for something he/she did not do. And the person who really did the work should get the credit.

  29. Cheating to me is defined as someone who is unprepared and counts on the person above them and/or copying another persons written work. My examples are looking at other peoples test when their not looking or grabbing someones paper and saying its yours theirs so many that comes to mind that people just don't see it.

To be a student and a leader is to have good potential and honesty. No one wants to be a fraud because its just not right being a different person to yourself and other people.

  30. Cheating is copying someone elses' work and take credict for it. It means that the person is too lazy to get their work done on time or they're too lazy to do the work themself. As a student, cheating is a very bad thing to do, especially when testing because it shows that you didn't study like you suppose to as a student. It shows that the student is being lazy and have to get their answers by copying and taking credict from other students' work. If a leader cheats, then everyone will make a really big deal about it because cheating is one of the things that make people loose trust and respect for you.

Plagiarism is using someone elses idea or thoughts and make it your own, like cheating. For example, some might design or draw and very creative piece of art and another person plagiarise it by changing a little bit of the piece of art and call it theirs. This is not right for a student to do because it's not their idea, they did not came up with it. This isn't right for a leader to do either because it shows that they don't have enough creativity to create their own, and have to copy others. This makes the leader not a leader, because a leader shouldn't be stealing ideas from others. They should be an example for others to follow and plaglarism is not one of the things students should follow.

    ReplyDelete
  31. In my own words, cheating is stealing other peoples' work/answers and taking all the credit for something you havent done. A few examples of cheating is looking at someone elses paper during a test, asking to borrow homework during freetimes and writing down the answers. If a leader cheats, he/she could loose a lot of respect from others.

Plagiarism is writing down someones ideas and changing some words and calling it "your own". For example, if I had a major essay and I'm just to lazy to do it, I go online and just take an essay from a website and putting a name on it calling it mine. This shows no respect for the other person. This makes a leader a bad one. Leaders should be creative and think about what they are doing. If a leader is a "rolemodel" this would not be a good example to follow.

  32. Cheating is when you copy another person's work and answers and calling it your own. People who cheat are only cheating themselves because the purpose of homework is for extra practice meaning whoever cheats is only cheating themselves.

Plagiarism is like cheating. When you copy another person's work and writing it down as your own. It's like copying a paragraph from wikipedia and pasting it into your essay.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Cheating is when you lie to yourself and everyone around you. when you cheat, you take credit for another's work. You're only hurting yourself when you cheat.

Plagiarism is using someones ideas or words as your own. Plagiarism is a form of cheating.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Cheating is when you don't follow the rules. It's when you do something just to get yourself ahead.

Plagiarism is taking credit for something another person did. You copy the person's work and give them no credit for it.

These words mean to me that someone is too lazy to do their own work that they will do anything to get it done.
