I hope you all learned a lot at the CADA conference.
1. What is the most memorable thing you experienced at the conference?
2. Tell me about 2-3 idea you got from one of the sessions at CADA that we can use in our class.
Post by Friday, Dec. 4 at midnight.
1. The most memorable thing I experienced was at the "Your Title-What Next" session. Richard Parkhouse ,the host, asked everyone how we were doing and everyone replied the expected response. We all mumbeled words like "fine" and "good". But he then told us to ask him how he was doing and he responded by saying "Fabulous working on incredible". He later interpreted that his response meant that even if anyone feels like they are at the top of everything, there's always potential to improve on something else.
ReplyDelete2.I got a lot of ideas from the "Got to Dance" sessions. Our host ,Shauna, had participated in making dances in the past and suggested that for advertising, we should change all the wallpapers of the computers in the computer lab so that they end up listing the details of our dance so anyone who has computers for an elective instantly knows about the dance. Also, she suggested not to deal with tiny details/decoratioons in a large area because no one will be able to see or appreciatte them. Instead, our decorations should be large and bold. Last but not least, Shaunna also said that the very should dance should be the best for publicity. So she suggested to have a larger budget for the first dance so everything will wow everyone and they will want to come to the later dances.
Overall, this CADA conference was fun and inspirarional......:)
1. The most memorable thing I experienced at the CADA conference was the "Leader in You". The speaker was really funny. He talked about how different boys and girls are. Boys and girls communicate in a different way and that to be a leader you have to understand both sides.
ReplyDelete2. Some of ideas I got are from the "Traveling Junk Show". This presentation was about spirit day activities. One of the activities was a hula hoop pass. There was a line of kids and they had to pass their whole body through the hula hoop. The teams had to keep doing that until they get to the end. Another idea was that you would play a little bit of 5-10 songs to the people that are playing. The players would then have to write down the artists of each song and the one with the most right answers would win.

ReplyDelete1)The most memorable thing I experienced at the conference was at the last session because the speaker (Tyler Durman) was very funny and his words were very inspiring.
ReplyDelete2)I got most of my ideas from the Traveling Junk Show session, and most of the ideas could be Spirit Day activities. One idea was the Hula Hoop Pass, where there would be two teams with people standing in a line, and they would grab hands and pass the hula hoop over their heads to the next person without letting go of the other people’s hands, and the first team to get the hula hoop from one end of the line to the other wins. Another idea I got was the Rubber Face game, where people would put a rubber band around their head, just below their nose, and try to get the rubber band under their chin without using their hands (they would have to use their face to try to move the rubber band down). One more idea I got from the same sessions was Name That Singer, where we would get people to come up, play a number of 10-second clips of some songs, and get the participants to guess the artists who sang the song. The person/people who gets/get the most correct wins/win.
1. The most memorable thing I experienced is from “Your Title-What next” session, by Richard Parkhouse. I took so many notes about the speech that he talked about. He said, “Being a good leader, you must have some of the following traits… (Ex. Unselfishness, enthusiasm, loyalty, creativity, trust, decisiveness, courage etc.)” He also talked about the purpose of student activity is not to have fun, is try to know a student. And I think the most important quote is, “Nobody will believe in you unless you believe in YOURSELF.”
ReplyDelete2. I got many ideas from “Changing Dances into Parties.” We went over from step to step from planning a dance to ending a dance. I took some notes on use all kinds of supplies that will be useful for dances such as table cloth or wood cut out. And I think we could send a request of different songs to the DJ, and also we need to remember one thing to end the dance, “NEVER end with a boring song, end with a new or popular song) There is a song they played during the meeting, it’s a no word song called, “Warp 1.9.” Also I one spirit day idea from “Rally Games ‘By-You’” It’s a group of people holding their hands randomly , and without loosing each others hands, untie it in to a circle standing side by side.
1) The most memorable thing I experienced at the conference was the speaker, Tyler, at the end. Tyler was hilarious while giving us inspirational words.
ReplyDelete2) One of the ideas that I learned at Got to Dance was making sure we have a theme that people will like not just the committee. Another thing is if people don't like the theme of the dance, the nwe can have a trial. It is when people can experience the dance before the actual dance, likea test run.
1. The most memorable thing from CADA was the fourth seesion that we all went to. Tyler Durman was really inspiring. He inspired us to be better leaders to our school. His session has inspired me to talk to other people that we usually don't talk to.
ReplyDelete2. One idea that i got was from the "re-think" session. During the spirit day activities the people who are participating the activity never get to see the funny stuff that happens, so the idea was to take pictures or record the spirit day activities and then play them during the next spirit day or you could burn a cd and sell it to students. Another idea was to gove back to the lunch ladies. We could give each lunch lady a basket of food, and we could say since you feed us, we'll feed you. This can benifit us because schools need a bigger fan base. If the lunch ladies are on our side, we could ask them for favors such as using their cafateria for an activity and they would probably say yes to us.
1. The most memorable thing about CADA conference was when we were in our last session with the speaker, Tyler Durman. He was really funny and what he said throughout the session was touching and it makes me really think about how I act towards others.
ReplyDelete2. One of the ideas that I learned is to make something fun instead of just plain tickets. For example, if the theme was Around the world, we can make airline tickets and if our theme was Hawaiian, we can give out a flower, because we have to sell the leis during the dance.(People can put the flower in the hair.)
Another idea is to advertise the dances better by getting people's attention. For example, we can make big posters and hang it around our neck. We can also make footprints leading to a poster. Lastly, we can make the font really really really tiny so that people will be like "What does that say?" and they will pay attention to it. (:
1. The most memorable thing for me was the speech by Tyler Durman. He was funny but at the same time was able to be serious and explain the message. I will never forget the way he made me cry and completely changed the way I say Leadership. Those last four words still echo in my head, “Life is for love”.
ReplyDelete2. During the sessions at CADA, I learned a few new games like “Benchwarmers Race”. Two people sit on a bench and race to the end of a finish line. We could also play “Name That Singer” where groups of people answer who sang a song. One other activity is “Fish Bowling”. Select six team members for two teams, one will ’fish’ using the rope to reel in the ’catch’. The other will where a hat. Then they will scope up some fish, place them on the hat, sit on the scooter board and wait to be caught. The fisherman will cast the line to the ‘catch’, reel them in, dup the fish on the hat into a bowl, then the catch will scoot them self back and switch. The game is over when everyone has gone or time has run out.
1. The last speaker of the day, Tyler Durman, was extremely memorable. He easily captured us into his stories, making us laugh our butts off one second, and gasp with shock the next. His words were very inspiring and action-oriented - Crystal and I have already
ReplyDeletestarted talking to and befriending the lonelier people at lunch and nutrition. :)
2. In the Service Projects session, it was suggested that we have more original, driving prizes. Most teachers, being somewhat competitive, would enjoy a nice, original prize rather than the same ice-cream or pizza party again. In Fun Fridays (Lunch Activities), I learned that it would be good to have a themed activiy once in a while. Match the prize, music, and clothing articles to the game being played to get people into the spirit of things. Also, I learned that we should try and reward everyone who participated with a little prize - that way, nobody feels like a loser when they walk away empty-handed.
1) The most memorable thing from the CADA conference was when Tyler Derman spoke. I thought that It was really touching and so very true. I learned a lot from that entertainment and had a couple laughs too. He was very funny and got the crowd cracking up. His lectures really got me thinking.
ReplyDelete2)One of the three sessions I went to at the CADA conference was the "traveling junk show". We played a lot of games in that session, and what i realized was that the games we played did not really include much supplies. He played music and we would have to guess the title, I was thinking that maybe we should do that as a spirit dat event. Also, he chose those who did not raise their hands to volunteer. That was very smart, I bet that all the students that don't raise their hands want to, but are too afraid to get out of their shells. What needs improvement is the students that are participating. I think that we should choose the ones to play the spirit days. We want them to feel loved, we want them to feel like they're part of this school, we want them to feel like ohana. Ohana means family, and family means nobody gets left behind..or forgotten.
The most memorable thing I experienced at CADA was interacting with people I have never met. I mean in the beginning it was really weird because interacting with people meant holding wrists(basically holding hands) with complete strangers, people I have never seen before. The speech made by Tyler Durman was also very memorable and extremely funny I was basically laughing the whole time (except on the sad parts.)
ReplyDeleteOne idea that I got from traveling junk show(which by the way was very fun and super funny)was the game called "The giant ball relay." In this game, people get in the four corners of the rooms and pass a super gigantic ball around the room. Whoever gets back to the middle first is the winner. Another idea I got was a game with balloons. This game requires two people who do not know each other to become partners. Ever group of partners gets one balloon. Between the two, they have to take the balloon to the middle of the room without using their hands, so each person has their hands on their partner's shoulder. Then they need to hug ans squeeze as hard as they can until the balloon pops. After the balloon pops, the partners have to run to the end of the line and sit down. The group with all the partners sitting down first is the winning group. This, I think was a game to teach each other how to work together. :D
1) I think that the most memorable fe me at the CADA conference would probably be Tyler Durman;s speech. He was inspireing and gace us a touching speech toward us about make others feel loved and we should encourage others to interact with others and have them break out of their shells. Tyler was also very funny and kept us laughing but still had us think of the issue and gave us a whole new look/veiw of leadership. Especially when he said "Leadership= LOVE"
ReplyDelete2) One thing from the "Middle School Swap Shop" i got many new ideas for fundraising, lunch acticvities, dress up days, staff recognition, reaching out to different students, and unique activities. For fundraising, the students from other schools had a dance show. Like students try out with a dance/dance crew and like audition to be in a show case. And the other students pay for and admission fee to watch. Another fundraising idea was to sell outside food for lunch. Like In N Out. For lunch activities, some students suggested/had a cream&gum contest where you place a piece of gum onto a pie pan and then sprap whip cream all over it and students use their faces to find the gum and blow a bubble with it to win. A cool dressup day would be olympic day and also have a sporty event to go with it.For staff recognition, other students suggested a cake/pie decoration contest where students in their homerooms decorate a pie/cake and is given to their teachers and is judged. Reaching out to students are for the kids that dont participate and encourage them to make friends. They said at their school they had a make a friend day where you make a new friend. There was a mix it up day where you hang out with a whole new group of friends for a day. Unigue activities was for the canned food drive we have a competition and where you had a rivaly between 2 classes would be better. Like LEADERSHIP vs. BAND!
The most memorable session from the CADA Conference was the speech from Tyler Durman. His inspiring stories led as all laughing in while of showing as the message of becoming a better leader. Two ideas that i got from the session of "Rally Games". I learned a few new games and that they suggested that instead of the regular people volunteering to play for our school activities, that we pick different people. Also we could give out more and better prizes for the people wanting to play in our school activities.

ReplyDelete1)The thing i remembered the most was the speech from Tyler Durman. Especially the part when he talked about the monsters under your bed and how you tell your mom to close the closet all the waybecause i can TOTALLY relate to that. Guess what, i am scared of the dark and i do think that somethings going to pop out at the end of that long dark hall way BUT thats why i sleep with a night light:D
ReplyDelete2)At the CADA confence i got most of my ideas in a session that i went to called "middle school swap shop". At this session we mostly just swaped ideas from other middle schools. Some of the ideas i got were:
-dance offs to
different artists on spirit days.
-candyland themed dance(they used soap for snow)
-super hero vs. bad guy dance or day(dress like a super hero or bad guy) We could probably have a spirit game where people cheer for the best costume, we could do this for the dance too.
The most memorable thing I experienced during CADA, was when Tyler Durman gave us his lecture. I thought his speech was very moving and completly got eveyone's attention. Althought he put some humor into his speech, it was still very touching. He gave us real examples of people going through tough times, but you have a chance to improve that life you chose.
ReplyDeleteOne of the sessions I had gone to was, "Ballons with Flair". Our speaker taught us how to create different designs you can make with balloons. We can also make a different kind of balloon arch for our dances or any big event we are having. We can make bundles of balloons in differnt ways. she also told us to make the tails of only one balloon long as a base, and the others short, so they wouldn't tangle. I learned how to take balloons and twist them into a tight knot and not be afraid if it pops in your face because its filled with air.
1. The most memorable thing I experieced was the Tyler Duff conference for all the Middle Schools at the end. even though he was funny, he also taught us a lot about being a leader. I think that he is a really great man. I learned from him that a true leader is supposed to make everyone at our school tyo feel like a family. He also taught us a word in Hawaiin, "OHANA". that is supposed to mean "family". His words were very inspiring but it was fun at the same time.
ReplyDelete2. One of the sessions I went to was, "Balloons with a Flair". Our "teacher" taught us how to make different balloon arches, what kind of balloons are good for certain things, and she also taught us how to make "never tangling" banquets. I think that everyone who who went to the same session as me should be able to make a nice balloon arch for winterformal. We can also make a balloon cluster to place at the corners so the cafetria wouldn't look so plain. She also taught us heluim safety and that heluim is not meant to be played with.
oops i meant tyler durman
ReplyDelete1) The most memorable thing at the CADA conference for me was when Tyler Durman made a speech to all the middle schools. He was very funny and the speech was inspiring. It touches your heart and really tells you how to be a leader. The speech also told me that even though someone could seem fine on the outside doesn't mean that they are ok in the inside. I liked how Tyler Durman kept saying family in hawaiian which is "ohana". Tyler Durman is a truly inspiring comedian.
ReplyDelete2) One of the sessions I really enjoyed was "Balloon with a Flair". The instructor taught us how to make a balloon bouquet without ever getting the strings tangled. She also told us how to make a different kind of balloon arches by just tying the balloons together. We could use what she taught us and make a fancy or nice balloon arch for the winter formal dance, or any dance for the matter. If we make balloon bouquets or clusters and put those in places where it seems plain at the dance, it would make it look more decorated.
1. The most memorable thing that I experienced at CADA was when Tyler Durman gave us his speech. It was very funny, yet motivating at the same time. Tyler Durman is a wonderful speaker. He makes everybody laugh and become inspired.
ReplyDelete2. I got a lot of great ideas from the session "Got to Dance". Shonna taught us how to make our dances more fun and memorable. One idea she gave us was that you can make the dance tickets into any shape that goes with the theme of the dance. That way people can look back at the ticket and remember what a wonderful time they had at the dance. Another idea was that we should have some activities that the kids can do if they get tired of dancing. One example is a jumper, which everybody loves.
1. The most memorable part of CADA was probably the speech that Tyler Derman gave. The speech was funny yet inspiring. It also made me realize things I didn't before.
ReplyDelete2. One of the idea I had gotten was where two people have a balloon in between them and the have to walk/run or whatever they have to do to get to a specific place, when you get there they have to hug eachother until the ballon pops!
Another ideo I had gotten was where six-ten get in a circle and hold eachothers wrist. They have to keep the balloon in play(can't touch the ground). While this is happening a person is standing on the outside counting how many balloons they can keep in play and when to add in the balloons.
The most memorable thing.. was the donut. JUST KIDDINNNG~[=
ReplyDeleteThe most Memorable thing from CADA, were the different ways for balloon-making. THe lady made it really interesting (partially because there was humor, and I was interested). That was one among the many that I had found memorable.
Two things we can do for/with our class, are the activites that the TeamBonding session had. The advisor constructed activites for the students to participate and carry out without needing an adult's consent.
She taught an energizer which would get the students to chat with one another to get to know each other. One was HUman graphs.
Human Graphs consisted of ten cones numbers 1 to 10. Tied to the cones would have a balloon floating to the ceiling with the number on it as well. THe way you play, the teacher would ask a question to whether you agree or not (ie: do you like to watch movies?). THe students would have to move to a cone 1,2.. on rating their answer. ten would be a SUPER yes, 1 would be a ABSOLUTELY no. So the cones (and numbers) are like rating your response. each cone may only have a max of ten people lined to the cone. THis activity is to find/discover students' interest. (BEcuase you ask them an interest question, brief question!)
One of her 'closing' games is PIT.
PIT is a long game. The class sits in a circle (on a chair, or floor). The name comes from "Personal, Interpersonal, Task". THe person starting will have ONE item, which is used to pass around teh circle so each person may have a chance to speak. You begin with P- personal. Say something personal about yourself. Then pass the item around and so each person should be able to say something personal about them. THe next topic would be I- interpersonal. THis round, is to say concerns, problems, conflicts, etc.
The item (namely a bear :3?) should have gotten to EVERYONE, so everyone could share something. Each person recieves only ONE skip, however we go back to that person after the round for their say.
THe goal of this game is to have the members understand more of each other (background, basis, whatever)
1)I think the most memorable thing I learned was that bonding is the most important thing or cooperating with eachother more then we do now. Another thing that was memorable was when one of the speakers ,Tyler Durman, was telling us these stories of how we should be and not just think about us ,but other people.
ReplyDelete2)We can do a PIT for bonding,Team builders, and energizers for the bonding skills.
The most memorable thing was when Tyler Durman was speaking and he said " I used to be the loner at school and one day that popular guy said asked me to sit down with him for lunch." That hit me instantly. I knew i had to go around
ReplyDeleteand start making new friends and make them a part of our school and make them feel like they weren't left out. I felt we needed more love to other people around us.
For a spirit day activity, there was one where you get in a group of circle and try to sit down on each other's lap. The other two was a blind fold relay(you put a blindfold on and the other person guides you through the relay), and the other was a race.(a relay team. Each go through and obstacle course and at the end the dig into a bowl of whipped cream and find a twix.)
1. The most memorable thing was-i think- "Your title - What's next" with Patrick something. Patrick told us that we need to innovate. We need to expand our 'box'. During the class he told to fold a piece of paper into fourths. In one of the boxes he told us to draw the person next to us in 30 seconds. He said that he saw some people not even trying or when they were done they kept saying sorry to the person they drew. He said " Why do you say sorry?" He told us that creativity is not something to be sorry of. He showed us this painted dog that was colored every color imaginable. He showed us his niece that painted the dog for him. He said that she didn't say sorry because she was proud of what she did. He said over the years we lose our creativity and work on 'perfection' or as he called it 'boring'. We need to expand our creativity and think like a child again. We need to INNOVATE! We need to think of ideas that will help events. Like Disneyland did with the passes and what Starbucks did with their cards that also could be used for a gift. He inspired me alot! He said much more but of course I could not write his whole presentation. He said so much more and those who heard him as well I believe that we were lucky to hear such an inspiring speech!
ReplyDelete2. I went to " The leader in you" with Tyler Durman. He talked about the differences between girls and boys. How we need to see the difference in others to help communicate with them. For example, if you were a girl you might think that guys, when they turn shoulder to shoulder towards you, don't pay attention and don't even care. Guys on the other hand might think there is nothing wrong with this. This is because guys like talking shoulder to shoulder and feel more comfortable that way. While girls talk face to face and feel better that way as well. Have you noticed that when guys are mad they face each other, and when girls get mad they turn shoulder to shoulder towards each other. Well, this is just something that we do. Overall just remember that guys and girls ARE different in many small ways that you just might not notice. Did you know that girl talk 4x more words than a guy does? This reminds me to tell you about a scientific experiment. So, scientists took 4 girls (6,12,16,21), and 4 boys (6,12,16,21). The scientists told them to wait in a room till the experiment is ready for them. When actually they WERE doing the experiment. They wanted to see how they would really act that is why they lied to them. They found out that girl Do talk 4x more words than boys, but the boys still had the deeper meaning talks than girls.
1. One of the most memorable thing was the last session when we listened to Tyler Durman. He was a very inspiring person. He also made his speech fun , so then more people actually payed attention. All the things he spoke about was also very true & i could relate to them all.
ReplyDelete2. My first session was middle school swap shop. We all got in groups and shared ideas from our school. There was an idea called penny wars. It was a way to raise money. Each grade (or whatever) has a bottle & their goal is to fill it with pennies. Each day people put in pennies , and they could also TAKE pennies from the other bottles. If you found any silver coin , then that would count as negative. It goes on for a few days & we count it all and see who won.(: i thought this was a very fun activity to do and a great way to raise money. Another thing a school did was have lunch with people they dont usually hang out with , or who has nobody to hang out with. All the leadership kids eat with people and the kids get to meet new friends.(: One other really great idea was a clique mix. In middle school there are alot of different types of groups such as jock , nerds , populars , & other groups. The idea behind this activity is to hang out with a person from a completely different clique , or someone who you'd never hang out with.
1. One of the most memorable thing at the CADA conference was when we listened to the speech from Tyler Derma. I enjoyed listening to his speech, thought he had a sense of humor, the speech really impacts all of us. I understand more about what leadership really means.
ReplyDelete2. My most memorable session was from my second session, Fun Fridays. This session let us experience a few spirit day activities What made me so interested the most was the information they gave us after each activity, they made some of the activities up to set examples for us of what to do and what not to do. They explained to us how spirit days need to be safe, and ways where we can think of ideas to make spirit day not cost much. They also explained the importance of good sportsmanship, and how it's better to reward everyone who participated and not just the winners. Since I'm in spirit committee, I thought that these would be great to share with the my committee members. Overall, I think CADA gave me more information on how to improve our leadership skills.
1.The most memorable thing I experienced was the speaker Tyler Durman. He was very funny and his stories were awesome. I really liked him because he taught us lessons in very fun ways. His speech was good because everyone paid close attention to him.
ReplyDelete2.One of the ideas I got from CADA is for a spirit day we can play a game called name that song. The host will play about ten songs and have the students have to guess who wrote it.
The second thing I learned at CADA was that people have their own groups to hang out with but it is better to between all the groups because then you meet a lot of new people. Some groups are Goth, Cheerleader, Smart kids, Jocks, Popular kids, Class clown and Drama Queen.
The third thing I have learned at CADA was another spirit day activity. The game was called pass the hoop. About ten people lined up in a straight lined interlocking hands with the person on both sides of you. Then you try to be the fasted team by getting the hoop past you by stepping in the hoop and then going out. The hoop should never touch the floor because your hands are interlocked.
The most memorable thing I experienced at the CADA Conference was the speech Tyler Durman gave at the Middle School Keynote session. He made the session very humerous yet very meaningful.
ReplyDeleteIn Team Building Activities, I learned about many activities we can do in Leadership class and during spirit day. First, I learned about Human Graphs: There are ten lines and the teacher will ask a question and they must answer them in a scale of 1-10 where 10 is high and 1 is low. I also learned about Balloon Body Pop Relay where the are groups of 8 creating 4 pairs. On "GO" the first pair puts a ballon between their body but cannot touch their hands. At the finish line, they must pop the balloon by squeezing each other.
1. The most memorable thing i learned from CADA was the motivation media. I remember this session because it inspired me to make the right decisions. I liked listening to this speech from Tyler Derman because it taught me many meaningful things like to make the right decisions and he made it very enjoyable for me to listen to.
ReplyDelete2. In balloons with a flair I learned many unique and exciting ways to make the dance much more decorative with balloons. I learned how to make a balloon pillar and a balloon bouquet. These ideas will be very helpful to dance committee in the future because it can help us make the dances look better. I also learned how to make a balloon bumblebee which we can use if we have a dance that involves the outdoors. In this session I also learned how to make a balloon ball which. I though these ideas were really helpful because we've never done anything like this in our previous dances.
I think the most memorable thing at CADA was to get the chance to meet new people making new friends at every session i went to i made new friends and meet future leaders just like us. One idea i learned for a spirit day activity was called clumps there would be alot of people participating and you call out a random number and people have to get into that number group fast or not your out and the remaining group wins. Another idea i learned was a leadership bonding activity we get into a big group hold wrist and we have balloons and someone has to be the safe keeper outside of the circle and they throw in as many balloons we can handle and we have to try to keep the balloons from touching the ground and at one point we wont be able to handle them because it get to much to handle and that helps us learn that sometimes the things we do are unbalanced like the balloons and the safe keeper helps and supports us like Ms.Mang. Another idea i learned was for our posters we should have one big word that takes up alot of room on the poster like something that gets the students attention like "caution" or "do not read" and so they're going to read it anyways and when they go up to it, it'll like say " masquerade ball Dec. 10th" and list the info we need them to know about.
ReplyDeleteAt the CADA conference, I saw many great ideas that is very interesting to try out and very creative. Throughout trip, the most memoriable thing I experienced was balloon with a flair. The class was fun and the chair we got to sit in was really comfortable. There the lady was teaching us about the helium tank and she was talking about what you can do with different shape balloons. She showed us how to make a bee, which was very fastinating to me. She taught the class how to use the helium tank properly such as you should always close the top of the helium tank when you’re done, also if the tank is laying on the floor without like a chain and the cap was off then it will fly off and maybe go through a wall.
ReplyDeleteONe of the many things I learned was how to create like a balloon line standing up. First you have a regular size balloon and then tie it with another one. Then use 4 small balloons to tie into the next layer. THen repeat the same pattern and it comes out to be a beautiful line of balloon. Another thing we can use is an activity of teamwork. Everyone has to hold hands with another person and form a circle. Then we have to coorporate and pass the balloon around without using our hands and if it falls then we lose.
1. The most memorable thing I learned from CADA was the Leadership in the Movies. I remembered this session because it was about being creative and getting the most efficient way to solve problems. The activity we did was trying to get the ball fastest around so everyone can touch the ball and beat the national record which was under 10 seconds and we all had to find a way to get the ball around. First, all these girls started saying the most creative ways I've heard of. Jim Hullihan, our speaker kept rejecting all of their ideas. So I decided to make up an explanation, so I said "we could run the ball across" and he accepted my idea and I had to run the ball across. Then the same girls started adding on to my idea and we decide to get into 2 columns. I thought running through a bunch of hands was easy, but it got hard through the middle and the hands put so much pressure on me. Then i bursted my way out of there and our time was 2 and something seconds with like 20-30 people!? Then Jim asked us how will we make it more compact? and the same girls said to layer so the distance to run was half shorter. So I ran through the hands with even more pressure and the time was 2 SECONDS! Jim also explained the CEOs of today and telling them starting as poor and hardworking and caring and imaginative. He explain Starbucks, Disneyland, In n' Out, and other great corporations. That was a meaningful thing about leaders I learned. I also saw my cousin!
ReplyDelete2.In the "Fun Fridays", we did spirit activities. what I learned there was very amazing I have never heard in my life. The speaker told us that the best spirit days are: CREATIVE, FUN, INCLUDING, SAFE, WITH CREATIVE MUSIC, AND REUSABLE. This session also had the most simple and easy way to divide people is by months on 2 sides: the first 6 months and the left hand side and the last 6 months on the right hand side. The spirit activities were so fun, first you had 2 people from each month and 1 blindfolded person and a guider. Then they had to grab a ballon with a coin inside and pop the ballon to get the coin inside. Then walk up to a piece of tape where a kid dress as a jester with 2 cups must catch the coins while the blindfolded person has the 2 coins and through the coins to the voice. The most coins from either side wins. Surprisingly, we tied and everyone got the prize. Another game, was a feather picking upper game. The objective of the games is to collect the most feathers and put them in a net. We also had people who were sitting down also participate by catching feathers on the ground or out of reach. But the real reason is so you don't have to pick up all the feathers after the spirit day is over and they do all the work. These are some spirit days that can be used in class for our spirit days.
The most memorable thing I experienced from CADA conference was when Tyler Durman was speaking. He was telling one of those stories that would usually be really boring. BUT!Instead, he made is really funny and entertaining. Not only was it funny and entertaining, it also had a meaning to it.
ReplyDeleteNow what goes below this is also the most memorable but i'd figure just to put both. (:
The most memorable thing I experienced at CADA was when a random girl I don't even know went up to me and claimed she knew me and called me gay. (That could mean happy too x]) That was extremely wierd.
A few things I learned in the "Fun Fridays"-Lunch Activities Session was a few games. The two speakers, Kevin Lorch and Rick Kent said that these games were all Creative, Fun, Safe and Resuable at the SAME TIME. One of the games was called "Jester's Mugshots". In this game, you had to blow up a balloon with coins in them and have your partner find the coins blindfolded and bring them to a line where they would TOSS the coins to the jester and the jester would try to catch them. Another game we played was called "Netzenfeathers". It this game, feathers would be blown into the air and 2 teams would collect the feathers and the team with the most feathers wins.
I know I'm late anyways, but I still want to answer.
ReplyDelete1)The most memorable thing I learned was Tyler Durman's speech,at first it was just funny and all, but then he told us the point of his words. A true leader is supposed to make everyone at our school feel like a family. We are "Ohana" which is the Hawaiian word for ~family~.
2)I think in class we should try a game that I learned in "Sticks and Stones" get a rock (or whatever you want to use),pass it out so that everyone has one. Then we write what we think our school should have more. Like acceptance, open, willingly, ect.
We should also try different kinds of balloon models for future dances. We can also try to all practice or make tying balloons or twisting them in different shapes.
the top one was sunny. sorry i signed in into the wrong account.
ReplyDelete1.) The most memorable thing from the CADA conference was the speech that Tyler Derman said. It was very inspiring, and i made me think twice about my life. He showed me that it is important to help others to make the right decision, and he also taught me to make the right decisions. I want to succeed in my life, and make no regrets.
ReplyDelete2.) We should make more creative balloons for our decorations and dances. Balloons can make the dance look more fun. We should also have cooler, and more fun themes. Some ideas we came up with were casino, disney, pixar, techno, guitar hero, circus, travel, winter wonderland, and super hero.
